Physics Week#7 Ordered Chao, fractals, and Consciousness
Ordered chaos” – does this sound familiar?
By definition, ordered chaos is a complex situation or process that appears chaotic while having enough order to achieve progress or goals. It does sound familiar to me. I have seen some of these examples in daily life. Yarrow plants vary in height. However, they appear to be shorter as the altitude gets higher. Sometimes it sounds like we're going in different directions. But when we look back, they all make sense. And a meaningful goal, a purpose is hidden behind our experiences.
Fractals as patterns of complex systems
In mathematics, a fractal is a subset of Euclidean space with a fractal dimension that strictly exceeds its topological dimension. A fractal system is a complex, nonlinear, interactive system capable of adapting to a changing environment. We have seen some patterns in nature, such as snow flakes, crystals, DNA, etc. Fractals and Chaos have something in common. In general, fractals can be any type of infinitely scaled and repeated pattern. They are patterns of complex systems.
Consciousness out of chaos?
Every point in the space-time grid is conscious, and consciousness is an active force that we can exercise in the universe in the physicist’s opinion. It makes sense to me that the brain’s electromagnetic field is the physical “seat of conciseness. The space-time itself is not linear; the electromagnetic field is not static. Consciousness may be the product of carefully balanced chaos.
